One of the advantages (for me) of the PSA AK-47 GF3 is the fact that it is made in the USA. Being American and a brand fanatic, I'm always a winner when I can get a product made in the USA.

The AK-47s coming out of the USA have been of high quality lately, and after some of the American AK manufacturers, they now seem to be on a solid path to quality AK production.
Palmetto State Armory has been expanding its range of AKs for several years. First introduced in 2015 with their Gen 1 AK-47, the PSA AK range has come a long way and really stepped up their game in recent years.
The GF3 is actually where PSA started popularizing their AK-47s, as they started using hammer-forged components like the bolt, stock, and forend.
With all the historical information out of the way, it's time to tackle the rifle itself.

The AK-47 GF3 has some solid features and the gun comes in several different configurations. PSA will definitely offer a configuration that will get you closer to what you want.
If you want a classic wood texture these are for you, if you are just a polymer type shooter they will still protect you.
Promotions? Given the number of stock options, you'd think PSA was on Wall Street. Side folders, sub folders, classic actions, you have PSA!
In my case, I chose the bakelite imitation model and I must say that I really like it.

The PSA AK-47 GF3 thread pitch is M14 x 1LH and I lovingly thread the Wolverine PBS-1 on my GF3 and love it.
The standard bevel cut gives a classic look, but without the big flash or benefits of reducing barrel lift.
No, it's not a Russian spy organization, it's a front view. The GF3 front sight unit is not connected to the gas unit at all.
The FSB is near the end of the barrel, close to the barrel, and the gas block is a few inches behind the FSB.

The front sight on the GF3 worked great, they are iron sights so don't expect anything from the past as they are iron sights.
I am working on getting an optic mount and optics for this gun, but the mount has not arrived yet. I'll let you know when it arrives.

When it comes to AKs, rods are fixed pieces of metal that other parts of the gun attach or lock to or to.
In the AK platform, the front stock is a metal block that is riveted to the receiver and into which the barrel is pressed.
The PSA AK forestock is hammer forged and has served this gun perfectly so far.
The front stock is probably the only part of this gun you will never mess with, but I wanted to address it because the hammer-forged stock is extremely durable.
Of The Best Ak Pistols On The Market
The receiver on this gun is a little different. Many major AKs have stamped receivers, which basically means that sheet metal is stamped to make the AK's lower receiver.
Many high-end AK-47s have hammer-forged receivers. The PSA AK GF3 stays true to the imported AK and features a stamped steel receiver.
So far this receiver has been great and the overall quality has been fantastic. I really have nothing bad to say about the PSA receiver.
This GF3 model has a 16 inch gas nitrided 4150 steel barrel. The barrel coating held up well. I haven't upgraded this gun in the slightest and I knew it was going to hit big numbers in the coming months and years.
The Best Ak Variants: A Modern Take On A Classic
One thing I really like about the PSA GF3 rifles is that they all have my favorite style of AK safety.
Safety equipment includes standard detent levers on top of the shifter as well as one on the bottom. This makes it much easier to use your index finger to push or retract the gun to safety or fire.
The PSA AK activator is what you would expect from a standard AK activator. It's not bad, but it's not like a fine-tuned 21st-century aftermarket AR-15 trigger.
I personally like this trigger and the only one I would even consider replacing it with is the ALG AK trigger which is phenomenal.
Psa Ak 103 Premium Forged Classic Side Folder, Fn Barrel, Ak47, 7.62x39
The grip on my GF3 pistol is nothing crazy or special. Except for the fact that it is imitation bakelite.
Genuine bakelite is rare and extremely expensive and was used in the UK before polymer took over the firearms market.
The magazine release is located directly in front of the trigger frame and can be easily pressed to release and replace the magazine.
The release size is very much a matter of personal preference and can be swapped out if you prefer something else.
I Hate New Palmetto State Armory Ake Ak With Fn Barrel!
Magazines are a must and unfortunately you can only get them with this gun, but luckily you can find AK magazines all over the internet.
This magazine seems solid, but I will definitely be purchasing metal AK frames to add to my collection once I can determine which metal frames work best in the PSA GF3 series.
The hammering of the GF3 AK bolt and charging handle really adds to the reliability of this gun as well as its durability.
These bolts look great in the gun and are great on the range. I don't know what else anyone wants from their AK bolt because GF3 bolts are solid.
Ak Ion 7.5” Lite Mlok A For Psa Ak P , Ak V, Mini Jack
They are marked "GF3" behind the charging handle screw on the back. The lettering is grey/white so it looks like it was laser etched onto the screw.
This classical part is quite beautiful. While I can't say I've ever held a real bakelite AK-47, the polymer look version is nice.
At the end of the stock there is a plastic plate for its removal. Has a small dent on the butt on both sides.
All in all, the stock is classic, so it's not bad that it's not great. If you opt for a different model, there may be more to talk about when it comes to stock.

Like all AKs, this handguard is replaceable. Split in the middle and separate into two parts.
Obviously mine is imitation Bakelite, but there are other options for polymer, light wood furniture and more.
This grip appears to be high quality and although I haven't removed it yet, it's the same very simple process as all other AKs.
The PSA AK-47 GF3 is equipped with a side sight mount that matches the classic AK-47 optics mount.

Brad wrote a very detailed article on AK optics that talks about the different mounting options as well as the different optics you can put on your AK.
I think it's important to decide what you want to do in your environment. Brad has a PSA AKP GF3 and a red dot sight is better for this gun.
For something like my PSA AK-47 GF3 with a 16 inch barrel it would make sense to use either a red dot or LVPO or similar optic.
Shooting an AK-47 is one of the most fun weapons to shoot...but why? Because you see yourself as AK in every action movie growing up.

Its low recoil and iconic look really help make this gun fun and exciting to shoot.
Shooting the AK GF3 was smooth and I really enjoyed squeezing round after round. But where he really shined, he was suppressed.
I have to admit, this is the first AK-47 I've shot with the weapon silenced. I have shot many different silenced rifles, from the HK UMP 45 to the Ruger Mark IV.
Even with supersonic bullets, this gun shines like no other. It must refer to the 7.62x39 bullet.
The Psa Ak V Pistols And Carbines Are Good To Go
While I don't currently have any subsonic rounds to test (I'll update this article with my results as soon as I do), I was able to fire it with the supersonic 7.62×39.
The sound reduction is fantastic overall, and while it's nowhere near what the 300 round blackout in the subsonic is, I want to compare the blackout of the subsonic 7.62 and the subsonic 300.
