Binary Trigger Glock 19 - SHOT Show Range Day was a big buzz for the mic launched by Franklin Armory. They unveiled a Glock binary trigger. Yes, you read that right. A pull/release trigger was designed for use with a Glock. We took a closer look at the show floor and shot it on booth day.

When Franklin Armory came out with their Binary Trigger it was still a dream to have one for a Glock. Until now, it seemed impossible. Well, Franklin Armory engineers did. Life finds a way. The Glock binary trigger is called the G-S173.

Franklin Armory will manufacture the Glock Binary Trigger for the Glock 17, but it won't be a simple trigger swap. To have a Glock binary trigger, they did some magic with the slide to work with the trigger. So when you buy a Glock binary, it will come with a slide and a trigger. You must supply your own barrel, frame and recoil spring.

You can see that the Glock binary slide is not the same as an OEM Glock 17 slide. There are cutouts in the slide to accommodate the magazine.

Like their other Binary Triggers, the Glock Binary Trigger will have a selector. It's a rotary switch on the left side of the slider. Raise it for a hit. Lower it for dual drag and drop mode.

Franklin Armory had two prototypes on hand. The following is the prettiest prototype with a visual cut on top.

Below, the other prototype. I don't know if they will offer an optical cut or not, but still decide. I hope they will. They are also exploring options with sliding cuts.

I also shot it at Range Day. I found the trigger a bit different from what I'm used to. But it works. I also shot close-up slow motion of the trigger to see how it moves when used in binary mode. There are some interesting things I learned about this high speed trigger.

If you watch the slow-motion footage carefully, you can see that the trigger resets on the two-step release. It goes about halfway and the attacker is freed to shoot the next round. Then, when the slide has finished backing up, the trigger moves forward to its final position, where you continue to pull the trigger again for the next shot.

Franklin Armory plans to sell the Glock G-S173 Binary for $899. While some may get sticker shock, remember that a regular binary trigger is around $300 and the HK binary trigger is $700. That makes the slide only $199 more. You must always supply your own barrel and recoil spring. They are planning a release date in the second quarter.
