EARLINGTON, VA. - The Joint Program Office of the military's F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter is testing the final payload bays to better understand how the fifth-generation aircraft performed at sea during its first deployment.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Eric Feek, executive officer of the F-35 JPO program, said his office is studying the recent delivery of the US Navy's F-35C to the USS.

“We looked at those [Floating Spare Packs] and [Fixed Fixed Packs] in terms of range and depth, did we get it right? Did we think we got it right compared to the types of organs that might fail? And when it comes to the number of those parts, or how often those parts fail, have we got it right? Because DSPs and ASPs are a big set of boxes, tools and spare parts, and we want to make sure that we minimize that as we move forward in warfighting success," Fick told reporters Tuesday at a roundtable at the JPO office in Arlington. ,Va .

Fick said the F-35Cs have made good progress in the global supply chain, and his team is now evaluating whether the squadron has the right mix of components for delivery.

"I make sure we learn from this deployment so that next time we take the kit but maybe it works well for us," Feek said.

“They are designed to allow continuous operation for a period of time. "So they have the spare parts that we expect, which are needed for a multi-tail unit that flies for days at a time," Fick said.

In the global list of equipment for the F-35 system, aircraft that are positioned to receive parts when needed are at the top of the list.

"The way the global stock pool works and the industry controls how the global stock pool works, when it comes to allocation of parts, the working units are prioritized over the non-working units, and I say send those parts," said Fick. "So when

Noting the limited space on the plane, Fick said the JPO wanted to make sure its ASP was accurate.

"From an ASP perspective, it's about making sure we have the right members, nothing more, nothing less - because when you're at sea, you're an island to yourself," he said. "Making sure we have that right, I think, will make a difference to the Navy, to service providers, and to their ability to produce air power."

Placement. While his team was working to address corrosion issues on the F-35's platform, the JPO discovered that the F-35B aircraft were on board.

"The deployment was smaller than anyone thought," Fick said.

Did not work as intended in the marine environment. Vice Adm. of the Navy and Marine Forces Pacific. Kenneth Whitesell told the USNI last month that Lockheed Martin had received designs for new seals.

"So some studies have been done. But these platforms should be measured against the baseline to see how they performed in this task," said Whitesell.

Feek said he was not aware of any traffic alerts required for the crash or the F-35B.

No one has brought me anything requiring a traffic report regarding the F-35C or B crash, as you all have seen.

As well, said Fick. "I haven't seen anything. We will continue to support the investigation into these cases, and if anything comes up that requires the Navy to notify me, I certainly will."
