f 35 radar

F 35 Radar - The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, also known as the Joint Strike Fighter, is a combat aircraft originating from the United States Department of Defense's Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. As long as the program failed to produce results, the F-35 was also called the Joint Strike Fighter, but since the Lockheed Martin design inherited the Boeing design (model X-32), the name F-35 Lightning II was chosen. The name of the program soon after became the F-35 Lightning II program. This fighter is a more developed version of the Lockheed Martin-X-35.

Three types of F-35 are produced: the standard version (F-35A), the vertical landing version (F-35B), and the naval version for use on aircraft carriers (F-35C).

The family name, F-35 Lightning II, was also mentioned for the first time during the event. The aircraft is named after the World War II Lockheed P-38 Lightning and the English Lightning, a British Cold War fighter. Before that, a competition was held in the countries participating in the project to come up with the name of the plane.

From the beginning of the JSF project it was clear that there would be three types, a standard version, an enterprise version and a modified STOVL. These three aircraft use more than 80% of the same components to keep costs down.

The F-35A is the standard version built for the USAF and was seen by the Dutch forces as the best candidate to replace the Royal Netherlands Air Force's F-16.

It is the only version with a built-in 25 mm cannon, as it is intended to replace the A-10 Thunderbolt II. The first Type A aircraft (Aircraft AA-1) made its first flight on 15 December 2006 after a successful ground test between the -December 7 to 12, 2006.

The F-35B is a STOVL (Short Take Off Vertical Landing) variant for the USMC and Royal Navy to replace several versions of the Hawker Sidley Harrier. To make room for the second turbine required for vertical landing, the aerial refueling connection was moved from its center to the right side of the fuselage. There is no fixed gun on the ship; Can be carried in a separate backpack. The second turbine is being developed under the name Rolls-Royce LiftSystem and will have a thrust of 89 kN.

The F-35C is a US Navy version designed for flight deck operations. For this purpose, this version is equipped with partially folding wings, reinforced landing gear and a latch link for the brake cables. Furthermore, like the B version, the air refueling connection is on the right side of the fuselage and the integrated gun is missing. Also in this version, the cannon can be placed in a pod under the aircraft if necessary for a specific mission.

The engine of the F-35 is the Pratt & Whitney F135. A second version, the F136 developed by General Electric and Rolls-Royce, was canceled by the Pentagon in 2011 due to lack of funding. Although the F-35 can fly Mach 1.2 for a short time without using the afterburner, the F-35 engine was not primarily developed for supercruise.

The F-35 will be able to equip itself with a wide variety of weapons, both internal and external. However, this toolkit depends on the type. The sea version F-35 CV (carrier) with slightly folded wings and the F-35 STOVL version (short take-off and vertical landing) with adjustable engine ejectors will carry a different weapons package than the F-35 CTOL (normal take-off and landing) version the air A good reference for the tool to use can be found at this reference.

Joint Strike Fighter was designed with nuclear weapons in mind. The F-35A will be able to carry B61 nuclear weapons, similar to those stored at Volkel and Kleine-Brugel.

The F-35 has a comprehensive avionics suite plus various sensors. However, this information is not public. What is known is the type of radar used. The AN/APG-81 radar, an AESA radar, is derived from the AN/APG-77 radar used in the F-22.

Both are manufactured by Northrop Grumman. The device also has an electro-optical target finder (infrared) for locating targets on the ground.

The F-35 is an international project in which many companies from eight participating countries operate. The major companies involved are from the United States and Great Britain, but Dutch companies are also involved in the development. 20 companies, associated with the promotion organization NIFARP, compete for contracts with a total value of more than 700 million dollars,

About 8 of these companies received production orders. By the end of 2011, the project had generated $410 million in development work and $127.5 million in production work for Dutch industry.

Internationally, the main companies are Lockheed Martin as the lead developer, Northrop Grumman for the integration of the various subsystems in the plane, British Aerospace for the design of the tail part of the plane and the developers of the F135 and F136 engines: Pratt & Whitney and GE. buns -Royce Fighter Engine Group.

As of August 2006, 66 Dutch companies will directly or indirectly benefit from the development of the F-35. These are consolidated in NIFARP. For an overview of the companies and the units in which they operate, see:

Leonardo's aircraft division is responsible for the production, maintenance and upgrade of F-35 aircraft in Europe. Final Assembly and Inspection (FACO) is located at the Italian Camry base. 40 Norwegian, 90 Italian and 37 Dutch F-35 aircraft were gathered here. International versions will follow.

In 2001, the Dutch government chose in principle the F-35 CTOL version as a replacement for the F-16s, after years of discussions about whether it would contribute to development costs. This led to much political controversy. Finally, the Rutte I cabinet decided on a final purchase of 37 aircraft for the time being. These will be phased in from 2019. On October 31, 2019, the first Dutch F-35 landed for use at Leeuwarden Air Base.

The Belgian government did not participate in the development program of the new fighter, but decided in 2018 to purchase 34 new F-35 aircraft to replace the old F-16.

Other European governments that have already completed purchases are the Danish government (27x F-35 CTOL); Government of Finland (64 x F-35 CTOL); Italian government (15x F-35 CTOL and 15x F-35 CV); Norwegian government (40x F-35 CTOL) and UK government (90x F-35 CTOL and 30x F-35 STOVL).

Since the first batch, the prices of F-35A, F-35B and F-35C have been significantly reduced, i.e. by 70%. In January 2021, equipment prices in the corresponding regions were as follows:

It is important to note that these are not total values. Additional costs are added to the quoted prices. In the US, for example, Congress adds plus-ups.

Based on this law, certain funds are allocated to a specific project, program or organization. For Americans, the final cost of the 14th version was:

In May 2018, the F-35 was used for the first time in combat operations. The Israeli Air Force carried out at least two airstrikes against Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria.

The United States' first combat mission with the F-35 was in Afghanistan on September 27, 2018. That's when the Taliban was attacked with the F-35B. The planes took off from the USS Essex assault ship in the Arabian Sea.

Designated AN/APG-81, the active electronically scanned array radar began flying on August 23 and 25 on the BAC-1-11 of the Northrop Grumman test aircraft. During the flight, in search of everything, the air track and the synthetic aperture mode of The radar, the radar was successfully tested against airborne and ground targets.

"The excellent radar performance of these first flights highlights the tremendous development efforts underway in the avionics of the F-35 mission and marks the culmination of successful design, hardware development, software development and systems integration," said John C. Johnson. Lt. president of Combat Avionics Systems at Northrop Grumman. "We look forward to accelerating the validation of radar performance in time
